Sweet Comfort

All the women I hang out with are meshed up. That is to say, the vast majority of them have a mesh body, many of them have a mesh head and all of them, bar one, are using mesh clothes.

In contrast, many of the guys I hang out with do not have a mesh body or a mesh head (or if they do, they don’t wear it), although most of them do wear mesh clothes. I’d love to say I noticed this all by myself but actually it was a male friend who mentioned it.  He asked me why I thought it was… and I had no idea really.

I considered that it’s often the same group of people who come together at the same place, maybe these men are resistant to change, maybe we (women) go on about mesh items and clothing too much, maybe they just don’t see the point.

I should emphasize, it’s not that my male friends look bad, indeed they don’t, but Thom, for instance, has to be nagged to even change his clothes and we nearly came to blows once when I suggested he might consider a new skin after years with the same one.

I’m throwing it open to you, dear readers, why do you think it might be? Does it tally with your own experience at all?

[Cynful]’s Heat Bikini is a very adaptable piece of kit indeed. Each piece (top and bottom) comprises 3 parts which can be the same colour, or different colours – I went for two colours overall. It’s for this month’s Luxe Box, which is available to buy the month after release only, if you didn’t pre-order. So you can pick this up in July if you didn’t get it already!

Of course, I have more to show you from the Powder Pack for Catwa this June. If you follow the link above it will take you to Powder Pack’s website which is full of info about the box and contained products and how you can buy it. You pre-order for 1500l$ or you can buy after the fact for 3000l$. So. Many. Skins. Jus sayin. I did a video to walk you through the items I’m using today. Come on, let’s chat…

I also have more pics for you, including a ‘well lit, no shit’ shot…

And finally, my ‘jigging for the rigging’ video. Let’s boogie fashion fiends…

  • In my experience, Jamie is a lot like Thom. He has a few saved outfits and that suits him. He considers mesh a pain in the arse and comes inworld for conversation and interaction, not to look good. In his words “it’s only pixels.” I agree, but I like my pixels to look pretty so I’m meshed to the eyeballs (literally). Mesh adds to my sl experience but it doesn’t define it. Maybe I’m just more vain than him? Who knows. Having said that I wouldn’t go back to system now.

    • Oh yes that does sound similar Wynn. I think Thom likes his avatar to look nice… but not so much he’d get changed 😀 No idea why that is.

I try not to nag Thom about it, but sometimes it gets on my wick if he’s worn the same thing for too long. Are you content to let Jamie get on with it or do you ever wish he’d show more interest in his avatar’s appearance? x

    • It’s his avatar so it’s his choice. He once wore the same outfit for six weeks to prove a point (he won that debate). I just leave Jamie to it but we have an understanding that if I ever get his password I will delete ALL his clothes….which is why he’ll never share it with me 😈

    • Hahahaaha. Oh Wynn… 6 weeks for clothes changing is still a pipe dream for me and Thom. I’m lucky if I can get him to do it when the seasons change 😀 I spent ages sorting Thom’s inventory for him, renaming outfit folders so he could find them again etc. He then said I’d lost almost everything (of course, this is untrue, inventory management is a key skill and I’d know if I had done so) and so yeah… I could, theoretically, get him changed myself, but then I’d get ‘you don’t love me the way I am’.

      Pfffff, boys. ❤

  • It is because men don’t like to mess about. Let’s face it – Mesh bodies and Mesh Heads with all their multitudinous and aggravating HUDs, OMEGA skin versions, trying to match things up body skin and head skin, neck fittings, an entirely different alpha system that isn’t quick plus a big waste of what was originally in your wardrobe – it’s all too much!! Mesh clothing was OK, it looked alright and better than system clothing and you only needed a couple of clicks to put the damn stuff on – but that was quite enough change and quite enough fiddling.

    • Now… that really makes sense Moz. I can almost hear Thom saying it. We laugh about how he’s stayed a noob in some ways (mainly HUD and clothes related ways) so yeah… it totally figures. And yet you manage to assail the dizzy heights in order to do your blog. You have my admiration ❤ 😀

  • I’ve had exactly the same experience. It’s a bit sad, because some of the new mesh bodies for gents are just fantastic. Not only that, but men’s fitmesh fashion is really coming along. I try to IM guys that have taken the time to “mesh up” and both compliment and thank them for their effort, which may sound really weird, but I actually really appreciate when the boys are trying to keep up. 🙂

  • Just to throw a spanner in the male/female generalisation… I’m a male with an all-mesh female avi who changes her gear at least once a month (:

    • If I were a man that’s just what I’d do too Chris, it’s so much more fun and there’s more selection.

    • I do agree with what Moz said about the wasted previous wardrobe, which you can’t even give away, as most of it is non-transferable. Seri can’t bring herself to delete it, though, as it represents thousands and thousands of L$ ):

    • I’ve got rid of so much Chris. The way I try to look at it is that my inventory is always going to be big, but if I keep on top of deleting stuff, I have less lag and less stress on my PC.
